One of a Kind News Table of Contents

If you would like to review past issues of One of a Kind News, click on archives. The article in this issue, "Mining The Gold Within", is the fourth in a series of articles that started with making your dreams a priority. The second article, "Don't Let Others Should on You" spoke to the dilemma of not knowing what your dreams are and the third article introduced the concept of "Your Gold Mine Within", your natural self. In this issue, we will start the process of mining for that gold. = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = 2. Mining The Gold Within "Listening to your heart is not simple. Finding out who you are is not simple. It takes a lot of hard work and courage to get to know who you are and what you want." --Author Unknown Do you have a strong desire to re-connect with your natural self? Are you willing to do the work that it will take? Do you have the persistence, patience and courage to do this work? Do you have the support you will need? If you answered "yes" to most or all of these questions, know that you are in the minority. Congratulations! You are following the road less traveled. Few people step up to this task in a lifetime. It's easier to live by default than by choice. It's easier to give up responsibility for our lives to the outer world, letting other people and events determine the direction of our lives. It's easier to be a victim rather than a hero of our lives. That said, if you are still reading, I have to assume that you are not interested in taking the easy way. I have to assume that you want to get to work. Okay, let's do it! Here are some things you will need for this exploration: 1. A special notebook. I recommend a three-ring binder for its flexibility. In this notebook you will track the nuggets of gold that you learn about your natural self. You'll need at least 15 dividers. Here are some suggestions for titles of those dividers:
Use these titles or find some that fit better for you. Make this notebook uniquely yours. Note: I strongly suggest that you do not share this notebook, or if you do, only share it with trusted others. At this point, your natural self may be highly vulnerable to criticism. That's what made her go into hiding in the first place. So, do protect her. 2. Space. You will need space in your life for this exploration. If all of the space in your life is already taken up, you'll need to take a look at what's filling that space. Are there things taking up your life space that aren't that important? If so, this is a good time to let them go. We all have the same amount of time, 24 hours a day. It's an individual choice as to what we allow to take up that space. Think of this space as a gift to your natural self, an investment in your life. It's a special time to be alone, uninterrupted, and to go within. The amount of space you allow is up to you. I take my space early every morning before I get caught up in the outer world. That's the time that works best for me. What time works best for you? 3. A Theme. I recommend that you come up with a theme for this exploration. You might use something like "Project Me", "My Natural Self", or "Who I Really Am". I use my logo, "The Phoenix Rising". Have fun with this. Come up with something that resonates for you. When you have put your notebook together, created your theme and set aside your space, you will have begun the process of exploring your natural self. During the next week, pay attention to what shows up in your life having to do with the subjects in your notebook. These could be thoughts, dreams, messages from other people, etc. Jot them down in the pertinent sections of your notebook. As Goethe wrote: "Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now. " Once you have made the commitment to reconnect with your natural self, you will be helped. This may be hard work, but you won't be doing it alone. In next weeks issue of One of a Kind News, I will give you more tools for your exploration.
